1st Two Weeks Camping at Little Rock Air Force Base

Wow! It has really started to go by fast. While we were working on selling our house we spent the 1st two weeks camping at Little Rock Air Force Base.

We are going to try to do little reviews of each place we camp so everyone can get a sense of being there with us! Camping at LRAFB was utilitarian. The setting was nice, we had a great view of the lake and some open space around us.

The Dogs learning manners

The dogs needed that space and time to become used to the new way of life! We were very concerned that they would not take well to it. They usually bark at every door bell, every visitor and each animal that crosses the yard.

They all were slowly introduced to the environment, spending time inside and brought out to visit one at a time. We set very clear boundaries on door protocols. Eventually, they were capable of managing and did really well for the first time out.

They have camped with us before, but not long term and we needed to get them to understand what it was all about. It was not long before they learned and got relaxed. They have not achieved Serenity, but well, neither have we, Not bad for the 1st two weeks camping at Little Rock Air Force Base.

We had to downsize and learn as well

My family and I tried to use that time to downsize. We put things in storage, sold some stuff and even gave away quite a bit. We tried relaxing, but there was so much to do!

It got a lot more organized, I promise!

The house was sold right at the end of our 1st two weeks camping at Little Rock Air Force Base, and we were able to spend the last two days prioritizing and storing things in our new home!

The actual campground

1st, the camphost was awesome! His name is Roger and he is very welcoming and a true problem solver. He assisted us with a problem the very first day (site registration confusion by someone else) which resulted in us ultimately getting a better site.

We spent Memorial Day with Roger and his lovely, Nellie. They invited us over and we had barbecue and swapped lies. It was great.

The wildlife seemed limited to squirrels, geese, gnats (by the million) and untold hordes of ticks. It seemed we were constantly picking ticks off of ourselves and the dogs.

It was beautiful. We did get a lot of rain though, which kept us inside most of the time we were not cleaning something at the sticks and bricks or moving something to storage. But when it cleared up, man!

1st two weeks camping

We finally had to say good bye, but only drove a short hop across the river to Maumelle State Park, more on that next week!
